None — Tweed Shire runs an on-call kerbside bulky collection instead (2 per household per financial year, up to 2 m³ each, booked online or on 02 6670 2400).

Getting there

The Tweed tip is the Stotts Creek Resource Recovery Centre at 298 Bartletts Road, Stotts Creek, off Tweed Valley Way between Murwillumbah and Kingscliff. Weekdays 7am–3.45pm; weekends and public holidays 9am–3.45pm; closed only Good Friday and Christmas Day. Last general-waste load in by 3.45pm, gates locked at 4. Phone 02 6670 2400. The JUNKtion tip shop is on site (Wed–Fri 8.30–3, Sat 9–3). Dual weighbridge.

Bring ID. Stotts Creek is strict about proof of residency — name and address — because the fee schedule splits hard between Tweed residents and everyone else.

Before you go

Tweed Shire has the cheapest resident gate in the region and the harshest outsider rate. Figures checked August 2026:

• Tweed residents, mixed waste (including building and demolition): $284 a tonne, minimum $10. Commercial mixed waste from within the shire is the same $284.
• Anyone from outside Tweed Shire: $368 a tonne, minimum $10, on every stream — green waste, recyclables and e-waste included.
• Green waste (residents): $125.80 a tonne; stumps over 30 cm $145.60.
• Sorted bricks, tiles, concrete: $65 a tonne.
• Mattresses: not listed separately — charged as mixed waste by weight.
• Fridges and air-conditioners: $23 each.
• Tyres: car $11 (on rim $22), 4WD $20 (on rim $40), truck $39.60.
• Wrapped asbestos: $284 a tonne, minimum $20, weekdays to 2.30pm only, Tweed residents only.
• Free (residents): household recyclables under 60 kg, e-waste (computers, TVs, printers, phones), batteries including lithium, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, fluoro tubes, smoke detectors, household chemicals and oil up to 20 L, paint, 100% scrap metal (car bodies, washing machines, roofing iron — but not fridges or air-conditioners), hot water systems, X-rays.
• Vouchers: none. Instead, Tweed runs an on-call kerbside collection: two per household per financial year, up to 2 m³ each (or one 4 m³ pickup), booked online or on 02 6670 2400. It takes furniture, whitegoods, mattresses, TVs and bikes; it refuses glass, renovation waste, carpet, green waste, fencing, rubble, hot water systems, tyres and anything over 2 m. Red-bin households only, not units unless via strata, and the schedule rolls — expect a wait at end of financial year and Christmas.

What a trailer load costs here

A level 6x4 trailer of mixed household rubbish is about 350 kg. For a Tweed resident that's 0.35 t × $284 = about $99 at the gate (checked August 2026) — the cheapest mixed-waste trailer in the region. Heaped, about 500 kg, is roughly $142. The same trailer of green waste is 0.35 t × $125.80 = about $44.

For a non-resident — which includes a Ballina-based crew like us — the same level trailer is 0.35 t × $368 = about $129, and there's no free scrap-metal or e-waste stream to offset it. That's why Tweed-coast jobs cost a bit more, or go back to Myocum or Ballina.
