What's included
Mattress removal is the single most-asked question in the Ballina and Byron Facebook groups: "who takes mattresses to the tip?" Every tip in the region charges for them, most won't let you drop them in the general pile, and they don't fit in a hatchback. Every mattress removal price includes:
- Two of us. A queen ensemble on a staircase is a two-person job.
- Collection from inside. Bedroom, spare room, upstairs — we carry it from where it is. Shoe covers on.
- Tip fee included. Mattresses are charged per item at most Northern Rivers tips — around $39–42 at Lismore and Nimbin, $40 at Myocum and Nammoona. That's inside your price.
- The base too. Slat bases, ensemble bases, old bed frames — same trip, priced on site.
- Sweep-up before we leave.
A single mattress pickup is from $140. Extra mattresses on the same job are +$70 each, which covers the gate fee and the extra lift.

Ranges, not guesses: the exact number is built on site in front of you. Add $30 beyond ~25 km from Ballina; Byron-side loads run 10–15% higher for gate fees.
How it works
- Call or text to book a free on-site quote. For a straightforward mattress or two we can usually give you a firm number when we arrive — priced in the quoting app in front of you before we lift it. The price is the price.
- Booking by SMS. Two-hour window, our names.
- On the day. Text twenty minutes out, then we're there. Shoe covers for inside jobs.
- Load and sort. The mattress goes to the mattress stream at the tip; metal bed frames are pulled out for scrap so they're recycled free.
- Sweep, photos, docket. Before-and-after to your phone, tip docket on file.
What we won't take
- Soiled or contaminated mattresses from a bio-hazard situation — we'll refer you to a specialist cleaner.
- Asbestos, ever. Not relevant to a mattress, but if the same clean-out has old fibro in it, it stays.
- Bed bugs: tell us when you book. We'll still take it, but we wrap it and it goes straight to the tip, not on the trailer with anyone else's gear.
Everything else in the bedroom clear-out — wardrobes, drawers, side tables — we take, priced by trailer fraction on site.

How much does mattress removal cost in Ballina or Byron Bay?
From $140 for a single mattress collected from inside the house, tip fee included. Extra mattresses on the same job are +$70 each. Airtasker's median for a mattress pickup in Ballina and Byron is about $100, but that's typically one person, kerbside, and you pay the tip fee separately — check the fine print before you compare.
Can I just take a mattress to the tip myself?
If you've got a ute or trailer, yes. Lismore charges $39 per mattress, Nimbin $42, Myocum $40 for a double or larger, Nammoona about $40. Ballina charges by weight as mixed waste. Kyogle is $21–34 depending on size. Myocum is only open weekend mornings, so check hours before you drive.
Do you take bed bases and bed frames?
Yes, same trip. Ensemble bases go in with the mattress. Metal frames come apart and go to scrap metal, which is free at Ballina and most other tips, so a metal frame adds very little to the price. Timber slat bases go as mixed waste and are priced by trailer fraction on site.
Do you take mattresses from holiday rentals and share houses?
Yes. Property managers can call or text to book and we'll handle access with the tenant or cleaner. If it's a whole end-of-lease clear-out, it's the same crew, priced as one job.
