Goonellabah is more than ~25 km from Ballina, so each line includes the $30 travel loading. Every price includes the two of us, loading, tip fees and a sweep-up. Heavy or dense loads are priced on site the same way.

Goonellabah is the first Lismore suburb we hit coming in on Ballina Road, about 30 minutes from base, and tip runs Goonellabah are a ten-minute drop down to the Lismore Recycling and Recovery Centre on Wyrallah Road. Wyrallah Road weighs everything and charges per tonne, with two rates for 2026/27: $410 if the load goes in unsorted (minimum $15) and $300 if at least half of it is recoverable (checked August 2026). We split metal, green and cardboard out as we load, so a heaped 6x4 from a Goonellabah garage, somewhere around a third of a tonne, comes in near $90 to $105 rather than $125-plus. Mattresses are a flat $39 and green waste is $120 a tonne. The tip runs 9am to 4pm on weekends and shuts for public holidays, which gives us the whole day rather than a morning window.
Goonellabah didn't flood, and that's the story of most rubbish removal Goonellabah jobs. It's where a lot of Lismore households landed after 2022, bringing what they'd salvaged with them, and years on the garages and sheds on Invercauld Road, Holland Street and around Kadina are still full of the stuff that was never unpacked. Goonellabah is Lismore City, so there's no scheduled council kerbside bulky pickup. Households can apply for two $82 waste vouchers a year for the Lismore tip, valid 30 days, from a pool that sometimes runs dry. The tip takes household, green and renovation waste, mattresses and whitegoods; it won't take chemicals or fuel except through the free Community Recycling Centre drop-off. Council fines for kerb dumping apply.
Reuse before you dump
- The Revolve Shop at the Lismore tip takes usable furniture and household goods on Wednesday and Friday 9am to 2pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm. We route decent pieces there first when the hours line up.

Yes, and it's cheaper than general rubbish because the Lismore tip charges green waste at $120 a tonne against $300 or more for mixed. Prunings, hedge cuttings, palm fronds and storm debris are fine. Keep it separate from the general pile and the on-site quote comes down.
Why is Goonellabah from $170 and not $140?
Goonellabah is about 30 km from our Ballina base, which puts it just outside the base band, so there's a $30 distance component. Everything else is the same as anywhere: two of us, all loading, tip fee included, sweep-up. Lismore, Nimbin and Goonellabah all sit in this band.
